Fun Tricks to teach your Adult Dog

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Certainly not us, and certainly not Jedda.

When training, you need to make it fun, and you need to be energetic: Dogs will pick up on your energy levels!

This video shows some step-by-step guides to help you teach your adult dog some fun tricks.

How to teach your adult dog to shake

Step 1: Get your dog into a sit.

Step 2: Take an easily broken down treat like VitaPet Chicken Sticks in your enclosed hand, and have it sitting just in front of your dog's nose.

Step 3: The moment your dog takes their paw off the ground, let them know they've got it right by giving a treat.

Step 4: Then once they have done this 2-3 times, it's time to add your word. 'Shake'

Step 5: Final step is removing the treats from your hand, and using your word - which your dog should recognise.

How to teach your adult dog to rollover

Step 1: We start by getting your dog into the sit and then lie down position. Holding the treat in your enclosed hand at their nose, slowly bring your hand down to the dog’s feet.

Step 2: Then with the treat still in your enclosed hand, keeping it close to the nose, move your hand around their shoulder to try to get your dog off balance and roll over.

Step 3: At the point that they roll, give the treat.

Step 4: Then once they have done this 2-3 times, it's time to add your word. 'Rollover'.
